Musician
and special education teacher Opa Rissanen is a full-time
researcher in University of Eastern Finland, along with his
involvement on magic. He is making a dissertation headed: “Magical
expertise – Development from an apprentice to a master magician.”
The purpose of his work is to create new,
culturally significant information about magic from specialists’ point
of view. The study focuses with Finnish magicians’ professional
development, apprentice-master cooperation and networking.
This work has raised great interest internationally in science
and art world as well as in the world of magic.
Opa Rissanen is starting studies at Brunel University, London in September 2011.
